CVSA Announces Dates for 2025 Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative

The fight against human trafficking remains a top priority for the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), and the organization has announced the dates for its 2025 Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative (HTAI). This annual effort aims to educate and empower the commercial motor vehicle (CMV) industry, law enforcement, and the general public to identify and respond to the signs of human trafficking.

HTAI Dates for 2025

  • United States: January 13-17
  • Canada: February 17-21
  • Mexico: March 17-21

This coordinated, continent-wide initiative emphasizes the importance of awareness, outreach, and education in combating this pervasive crime.

What is the HTAI?

The HTAI is a five-day program held annually in each of CVSA’s member countries. During the initiative, participants focus on raising awareness about human trafficking, recognizing the warning signs, and knowing how to take action.

Key participants include:

  • Commercial motor vehicle drivers: As they traverse highways daily, drivers are often in a unique position to spot suspicious activity.
  • Motor carriers: Companies play a vital role in training drivers and staff to recognize potential trafficking.
  • Law enforcement officers: Officers conduct targeted outreach and enforce trafficking prevention measures.
  • General public: Raising awareness ensures communities are vigilant and proactive.

Educational and Outreach Efforts

To prepare for the initiative, CVSA provides its members with various resources, including:

  • Wallet cards: Quick-reference tools outlining the signs of trafficking and how to respond.
  • Posters and window decals: Distributed to increase visibility and spread the message.

To prepare for the initiative, CVSA is providing human trafficking awareness resources to its members and collaborating with TAT (formerly Truckers Against Trafficking) to distribute wallet cards, posters, and window decals. Complete their online form to request free outreach materials.

How HTAI Makes an Impact

During the five-day HTAI, jurisdictions across North America conduct awareness campaigns, community outreach, and law enforcement efforts to prevent trafficking. Each jurisdiction reports its activities to CVSA, and the results are compiled and shared in summer 2025.

The initiative is part of CVSA’s broader Human Trafficking Prevention Program, which integrates enforcement, education, and investigative measures into the CMV industry. The program’s overarching goal is to reduce human trafficking across North America.

Why It Matters

Human trafficking affects millions globally, with many cases going undetected. Commercial drivers, law enforcement officers, and community members who are equipped with the knowledge to spot and report suspicious activities can play a critical role in saving lives.

CVSA’s HTAI demonstrates that through education, collaboration, and vigilance, it’s possible to combat human trafficking and make a tangible difference.

Get Involved

If you’re part of the CMV industry or simply want to contribute to the cause, consider participating in the HTAI or accessing resources from organizations like CVSA and TAT. Together, we can help end human trafficking and bring hope to countless individuals.
